A suberb 50 station fitness suite overlooking the swimming complex at east End Pool in Byker.

Impulse Fitness at East End Pool contains a comprehensive array of both cardiovascular and resistance training equipment with the addition of a cable action and free weight section.

The most social and welcoming fitness facility in Newcastle upon Tyne with an incredible fitness team always on hand to offer support and guidance. Body analysis is also available to members free of charge which allows you to see how your body is adapting to your training program whether your goals are related to weight loss or muscle development.

Members can also access the swimming and sauna facilities alongside a great range of fitness classes held in several studios.

THE CLASSES

  • 50+ Aqua-fit

    Aquafit for the over 50’s uses water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone. Although the class takes place in a pool environment you don't need to be a confident swimmer to take part as most exercises are done standing.

  • Abs Class
    Abs, abs, abs!!!

    Abs class is a mix of exercises to strengthen, tone, and stretch the core muscles of the abdomen and back. Stability Ball, bosu balls and other equipment may be utilised.

  • Aqua Fit
    Aqua fit

    Aquafit uses water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone and remains an extremely popular class for all ages and abilities. Although the class takes place in a pool environment you don't need to be a confident swimmer to take part as most exercises are done standing

  • Bodyblast
    Body Blast

    A high intensity choreographed session to music, increasing the heart rate. This class typically features high energy dance moves.

  • Body Tone
    Body Tone

    A low intensity class aimed at toning all the major muscle groups through the use of light resistance via equipment such as light dumbbells and your own body weight.

  • Boxercise
    Boxerfit

    Boxercise uses training techniques that have been used by boxers for many years to keep fit.

    Classes can be varied and will be led by a qualified instructor. A typical class might consist of shadow-boxing, skipping, padwork, press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups. Most boxercise classes are aimed at both men and women of all ages and fitness standards.

    Boxercise training is also is a safe way to release your aggression in a channelled and controlled way and no class involves the physical hitting of an opponent.

  • Pilates
    Pilates

    Pilates is an exercise method developed to improve physical and mental health by focusing on building your body’s core strength (your back, abdominal and pelvic muscles) and improving your posture through a series of low repetition, low impact stretching and conditioning exercises.

    Pilates develops muscles without adding bulk, and increases flexibility and agility while also toning stomach and thigh muscles. In addition Pilates also helps you develop an awareness of how your body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.

  • Indoor Cycling
    Indoor-Cycling

    Indoor Cycling is a studio based exercise class using specially designed stationary bicycles that can be easily adjusted to suit all users. You control the intensity of the exercise and determine your own levels of exertion.

    A typical Indoor Cycling class involves a single instructor at the front who leads the class through a series of routines. They will use motivational music and lead you through the session which begins with a warm up, followed by seated and standing exercises. This form of exercise work’s the muscles and joints in the legs and buttocks and is a huge calorie burner.

    It is recommended to bring plenty of water.

  • Step Aerobics
    Step

    Step aerobics uses an elevated platform (the step), ranging in height from four to ten inches.

    This exercise relies on the same principles as traditional aerobics, but adds an additional level of intensity in that extra energy is expended when stepping on and off the platform. Step classes are usually performed to music and led by a trained instructor.

    Regularly participating in a step aerobics class at the right intensity for your body will aid weight loss as the body reaches maximum heart rate were more calories are burned than carbohydrates. Step aerobics can be a full body workout, combined with light weights you can work some of the major muscle groups helping to firm up and tone the body.

    Step classes are suitable for all levels of fitness, and the intensity at which you exercise can be adapted to fit your skill level.

  • Total Body

  • Yoga
    Yoga

    Yoga is a non-completive activity generally regarded as a series of physical poses, stretches and relaxation exercises. This is only one of the eight "limbs" of yoga, other elements of yoga concentrate on mental and spiritual wellbeing and the focus of yoga classes can vary depending on the individual teacher and the yoga tradition in which he or she was trained.

    The interesting thing about yoga is that your experience is always evolving and changing. Although the poses themselves do not change, your relationship with them will, as you improve your knowledge and ability. Anyone can start, even if you don't feel like you are very flexible or very strong. These things will develop over time with regular practice.

  • Zumba
    Zumba

    Zumba is for everyone! You can do it regardless of size, shape, fitness level, or coordination ability.

    Latin rhythms and basic dance steps are fused to create an explosive party (minus the tequilla) of a workout that burns up to 1000 calories an hour and leaves you on a high, and wanting more! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

    Add some Latin flavor and International zest into the mix and you've got ZUMBA!
